El Dorado ordinance aims to provide clarity should future data center project move forward

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – While there are no immediate plans to bring a data center to El Dorado, the city commission took action on Monday to put guidelines in place should the door open for such a project to move forward.

The El Dorado City Commission unanimously approved an ordinance that updates the city’s zoning code so that large projects like data centers or battery storage facilities would have to be clearly defined and subject to modern standards. This does not approve any specific project.

The vote comes as the community has already sought more transparency over the prospect of a data center coming to their community…
