SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane business Urbanna Natural Spa, Salon & Wine is closing its doors for good, according to a post May 29 morning by owner Linda Biel. The closure comes amid a lawsuit against the City of Spokane and Catholic Charities of Eastern Washington as Biel says a big part of the closure is the changing environment outside her business’s downtown location.
Biel spoke with NonStop Local in November about the lawsuit. She said then that the growing presence of Catholic Charities’ shelter facilities near her business’s Division Street location was keeping customers away.
Biel specifically cited chronic nuisances and crime as her reasons for taking legal action. Her attorney, Eowen Rosentrater listed property damage and stolen items as key concerns. Biel claimed these problems began in 2014 when Catholic Charities opened its housing facilities nearby…
