KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A man has been found guilty of drunk driving while he was looking for another bar in 2023, according to the Knox County District Attorney’s Office.
District Attorney Charme Allen said officers saw a car being driven by Samuel Bivens on the wrong side of the road and making an illegal U-turn on Callahan Drive on Dec. 19, 2023. While following the car, officers noted it swerving between lanes.
After pulling Bivens over in the Days Inn parking lot, Allen said he told officers he was “unfamiliar with the area and was looking for a bar.” Officers said he had slurred speech and smelled like alcohol, adding that he lost balance while failing field sobriety tests.
When officers searched Bivens’ car, they found a marijuana pike, marijuana shake and five beer cans. In response to being asked to provide a blood sample, Allen said he told officers “that his wife was driving the car” despite her not even being in the car and ultimately refused to give a blood sample…
