Man sentenced to 5 years in fatal 2024 crash killed 16-year-old

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was sentenced in September related to a fatal crash that occurred in August 2024.

According to Travis County court documents, 21-year-old Jeremy Giron-Hernandez pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to serve five years in state prison.

The charge was in connection with the death of 16-year-old Andrew Reyes, who was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Giron-Hernandez. APD said the crash was investigated as Austin’s 50th fatal crash of 2024.

Toward the sentence, Giron-Hernandez received a jail time credit of 344 days…
