Listicle: El Paso area school districts offer free meals during summer vacation

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — With school wrapping up for the academic year, many school districts will be offering free nutritious meals during the summer.

Here is a look at school districts who are offering summer meals:

Canutillo ISD

The Summer Meal Program ensures children 18 years of age and younger have access to healthy meals while school is out of session, Canutillo ISD said.

Meals are provided at no cost, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion, income or any other protected status.The program is available to all children ages 18 or younger, regardless of their enrollment status with the district or residency inside the district’s boundary lines.“Ensuring that children continue to receive healthy meals during the summer months is an important part of supporting our families and community,” Superintendent Josue Borrego said. “We are proud to offer this program so that students can stay nourished, healthy and ready to learn.”Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday through Friday at the following campuses:

  • Alderete Middle School, 801 Talbot Road, June 1 – July 10
  • Canutillo Middle School, 7311 Bosque Road, June 1 – June 12
  • Davenport Elementary School, 8401 Remington Drive, June 1 – July 10
  • Reyes Elementary School, 7440 Northern Pass Drive, June 1 – July 10
  • Northwest Early College High School, 6701 South Desert Boulevard, May 26 – June 25

Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact their child’s school directly for meal serving times. Dates and meal schedules may be extended by the district as needed.

El Paso ISD

This summer, El Paso ISD’s Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) will provide nutritious meals at no cost to children ages 1–18, as well as enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old.
