METAIRIE, La. (WVUE) – DBS Pharmacy is going on its eighth year of doing business on Airline Drive in Metairie. The pharmacy’s owner says breaking even during some of those years has been a challenge, and she’s not alone.
“I’ve had several friends close down their stores in the last year or so, and it continues to happen nationwide,” said Ella Vasquez, pharmacist and owner at DBS Pharmacy.
Vasquez is part of a network of independent pharmacists in Louisiana cheering the passage of HB 1236. The legislation is aimed at protecting independent pharmacies by standardizing the reimbursements such pharmacies get from pharmacy benefit managers, or PBMs…
