Aurora councilman to serve 10 days of home detention after pleading guilty to DUI

AURORA, Colo. — An Aurora City Councilman pleaded guilty Tuesday afternoon to a DUI charge that indicates he was driving with a blood alcohol level of .2 or higher., which is three times Colorado’s legal limit for driving of .08.

Robert Andrews, who chairs the council’s public safety committee, was arrested Jan. 17 after Aurora Police pulled him over for making an improper U-turn and weaving near South Chambers Road and South Chambers Circle around 9:30 p.m. According to the police report, his blood alcohol content was .252, more than three times Colorado’s legal limit.

During a court hearing Tuesday afternoon in Arapahoe County he pleaded guilty to a single charge of DUI – .2 or higher. Other charges including lane usage violation and turning improperly were dismissed as part of the deal…
