Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) – A Detective who is currently assigned to the FBI Montana Regional Violent Crime Task Force (MRVCTF) as a Task Force Officer (TFO) was aware of information that had been given to the MRVCTF members about 23-year-old Saul Dooling transporting methamphetamine and fentanyl powder from Spokane, Washington, to Missoula and distributing those drugs in Missoula.
On May 22, 2026, another MRVCTF TFO received information that Dooling was in Missoula and possibly at an apartment on Hastings Street. The TFOs set up at the address and began to watch to see if Dooling was there. The TFO observed a high volume of short-term human traffic coming and going from the apartment. He observed people showing up on foot, by bike, and in vehicles. Based on the TFO’s observations, training, and experience, it was very evident that illegal drugs were being distributed out of the apartment.
At approximately 3:00 PM, Dooling walked out of the apartment and began traveling on foot. After Dooling made some distance from the apartment, officers surrounded Dooling and took him into custody. Prior to a search incident to arrest, the TFO asked Dooling if he had anything on his person that would hurt them. Dooling hesitated, and the TFO was more specific and asked about any drugs or sharp objects. Dooling said yes, then stated he had fentanyl powder.
