Man on probation arrested for series of fraudulent merchandise returns

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jourdan Chasse Johnson, 41, was arrested Monday night for allegedly purchasing items from Best Buy and then returning them for a refund after removing the items from their boxes and replacing them with random items.

A Best Buy manager reported to a Gainesville Police Department officer that between April 25 and May 23, 2026, Johnson purchased a radar detector ($799.99), a drone ($1599.00), a 360-degree camera ($630), another 360-degree camera ($464.99), and a laptop case ($104.95), for a total of $3,598.93…
