THOMASVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — Nearly two weeks after the Carolina Apartments in Thomasville were shut down for unsafe conditions, city and fire officials met with the landlord for a condemnation hearing on Wednesday.
“Propane tanks inside, and they were using those inside because they didn’t have stoves. If they did have stoves then they didn’t have power to operate them, and what that did is contribute to a significant fire hazard and an explosive hazard,” a Thomasville fire official said.

The central question being asked was: Can the building ever be safe for people again?…
