Omaha Center Mall redevelopment plan draws pushback over blight designation

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A plan to redevelop the Center Mall near 42nd and Center Street drew pushback from area residents.

Officials with Lockwood Development say they will need tax increment financing to make the project feasible. They went before the Omaha Planning Board to get the mall area designated as a community redevelopment area, the first step in gaining tax increment financing.

Plans for the Center Mall are in the early stages of discussion. They call for a mixed use development to take the place of the landmark facility, including 500 apartment units…
