E-bikes gain traction in Hawai’i as gas prices remain high

HONOLULU (KHON2) — With gas prices in Hawaiʻi remaining high, more people are considering a bike or e-bike for everyday travel. The challenge is figuring out which type fits their needs.

Malia Harunaga, director of education for the Hawaiʻi Bicycling League, said the first step is simple: think about how the bike will be used.

“If you’re in the market to get a bike, maybe this is your first bike that you’re getting as an adult. It’s always good to think about what are you going to use the bike for,” she explained…
