Ann Arbor School Board appointee aims to ‘lower the temperature’ amid budget woes

ANN ARBOR, MI – A longtime Ann Arborite, school volunteer and parent of two Ann Arbor Public Schools graduates has been tapped to fill a vacancy on the district’s board of education.

Late Wednesday, June 3, the board voted 4-2 to appoint Steve Norton to fill a seat left open after former board treasurer, Don Wilkerson, resigned May 4.

Norton, who co-founded the group Michigan Parents for Schools and had a history of consulting with nonprofit organizations, was one of six candidates interviewed over roughly an hour ― each of them asked the same three questions about financial decisions, working with the superintendent, and accomplishing their top priorities…
