Red Springs Task Force Operation Results in 40 Citations, Three Felony Drug Arrests

The Southeastern North Carolina Violent Crime Task Force ran a two-hour sweep on Thursday, May 28, in Red Springs. Officers handed out 40 warnings and made arrests, according to a report from The Robesonian. Three suspects now face serious drug charges after police found 85 oxycodone pills and money during a traffic stop.

Lester Farrington, 70, lives in Red Springs. Authorities arrested him, according to The Robesonian report, on multiple charges: conspiracy to sell or deliver a Schedule-II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule-II controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute a Schedule-II controlled substance, two counts of trafficking opium or heroine, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and an improperly attached registration plate. His bond was set at $500,000 secured.

Bennie Henderson Jr., 60, tried something unusual when officers approached. He put drug paraphernalia in his mouth and crushed it with his teeth, attempting to destroy evidence. Henderson faces charges of conspiracy to sell or deliver a Schedule-II controlled substance, alter, steal or destroy criminal evidence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
