MENDENHALL — The two people found dead inside a Simpson County home following a nearly six-hour standoff and shootout with law enforcement Wednesday have been identified as Billy Blair, 74, and Virginia Carol Barnett-Blair, 71.
The Simpson County Sheriff’s Office identified the couple as the victims in the double homicide at their home on W.L. Blair Road. Cordarius Laray Hobbs, 17, is in custody in connection with the case.
Hobbs was taken into custody after fleeing the home and being apprehended by a Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper in a wooded area behind the residence. Authorities said a trooper shot Hobbs during the foot pursuit. He was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries…
