A teacher at Bridge City Center for Youth was arrested Wednesday after authorities say he put a detained juvenile in a chokehold.
Levelle Walker, 63, was booked with malfeasance in office, cruelty to a juvenile and simple battery, according to an arrest register. He was taken into custody at the juvenile detention center located at 3225 River Road in Bridge City.
According to an arrest report, a youth at the center accused Walker of grabbing him from behind by the neck and placing him in a chokehold in a hallway.
At least five other staffers, including two teachers and three juvenile justice specialists, witnessed the incident and gave statements that corroborated the youth’s allegation, according to the arrest reports…
