COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – The Columbus Police Department conducted enforcement efforts in Uptown Columbus between May 29-31, making contact with nearly 200 people and recovering illegal drugs.
Officers encountered large groups of unsupervised minors and young adults gathering in parking garages, public spaces and around businesses throughout the weekend. Officers responded to incidents involving disruptive behavior, trespassing and other activity that negatively impacted businesses and visitors.
Officers made contact with numerous individuals, conducted traffic enforcement, recovered illegal drugs and worked with parents and guardians when minors were found in situations that raised safety concerns.
Weekend enforcement results
The weekend activity included 41 self-initiated and traffic stops, four citations issued and 26 warning citations issued. Officers made 11 business contacts, 148 adult citizen contacts and 50 juvenile citizen contacts…
