Getting crafty with local flavor

In a quintessential Old Florida setting, where trees laden with Spanish Moss abound, and open water sits still as a statue, ready for a fishing line to eloquently land, Battle Bros Events hosted Southwest Florida’s First Annual Food Fest and Craft Fair Saturday, May 30, at Mike Greenwell Regional Park. Advertised as Florida’s biggest and most diverse food festival, the event offered International food, live local music and handcrafted art from noon until 9 p.m.

Sean Beck, co-owner of Battle Bros Events, said, “After this year, the event will only get bigger. That’s what my partner and I do. We host events that continue to grow.”

Battle Bros Events is keen on Florida as a festival-friendly market. “We held our first event in Melbourne in 2019,” Beck stated. He said Boca Raton, Daytona Beach and Jacksonville have been home to other events sponsored by his company. He added, “Something we did here in Fort Myers, which we do in any town we work with, is find a local non-profit to partner with.” Battle Bros Events charges a festival admission fee and donates a portion of it to a nonprofit of their choice. This time, Guardians Animal Rescue of Florida was the organization with which Battle Bros Events partnered in Fort Myers.

Sheila Cordova attended the Food Fest and Craft Fair with two of her friends. “It took us by surprise that there was an entrance fee,” she said, candidly. “I wasn’t really prepared for that, but it helped when they explained that most of the admission fee will go to a local charity.”…
