NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – An 81-year-old cancer patient says a Sewerage and Water Board crew damaged her wrought-iron fence while repairing a leak. She filed a claim, but months later, the utility denied it. As we found in this FOX 8 Defenders report, a land-use attorney says that older properties and aging infrastructure in New Orleans can complicate questions about responsibility and rights-of-way.
Latasha Montgomery Scott shows the damage to her elderly mother’s front-yard fence, saying, “It’s bent in. You can tell from the shape of the equipment that they used, all of this is bent in.”
