Roanoke celebrating America 250 with lineup of events

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – America is turning 250 this year, and Roanoke is celebrating with multiple events, including food, trivia, crafts and a fireworks show.

Monday, June 8: Food, Lodging, Gas: Colonial Road Food

  • 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at South County Library
  • Dive into diaries and letters from the 1700s to uncover the real story of travel food – sometimes surprising, sometimes stomach-turning.

Tuesday, June 23: United States Trivia

  • 6 to 7 p.m. at Hollins Express Library/Green Ridge Recreation Center
  • Test your knowledge of American history, geography, pop culture and more with trivia.

Thursday, July 2: Revolutionary Stories

  • 3 to 4p.m. at South County Library
  • Enjoy crafts, activities and snacks centered around the lives of two stories: Felicity Learns a Lesson by Valerie Tripp and The Journal of William Thomas Emerson: A Revolutionary War Patriot by Jim Murphy
