San Francisco man convicted of raping woman who mistook his car for Uber

A San Francisco man was convicted of raping a woman who left a Mission District club, mistakenly got into his car and fell asleep believing she was in her Uber ride, prosecutors said Friday.

A jury found Yucel Eryilmaz, 44, guilty of rape of an unconscious person and assault with intent to commit rape, according to the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office. He is scheduled to be sentenced June 18.

“The jury’s verdict holds Mr. Eryilmaz accountable for his crimes,” District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said in a statement. “I would like to thank the survivor for her courage in coming forward and working with my office through a challenging court process to get justice.”…
