State Debate: Time to revisit Act 10, editorializes Beloit Daily News’ Bill Barth

The Beloit Daily News’ Bill Barth proposes that Wisconsin lawmakers take a new look at Act 10, the Scott Walker-engineered law that essentially destroyed public worker unions in that state. It might have been a good idea in 2011, but 15 years later the pendulum may have spread too far, he declares.

In a joint Milwaukee Journal Sentinel column, four Milwaukee leaders proclaim that Milwaukee kids can’t read, but the state does nothing to change that. The four members of the Milwaukee Reading Council, including the city’s mayor, blame the Department of Public Instruction for refusing to release needed funds.
