Metairie jeweler accused of stealing from customers arrested on additional counts, officials say

A Metairie jeweler arrested in April and accused of stealing from his customers is now facing new charges, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Ira Savoie, 71, of Old Jefferson, was rearrested Wednesday and booked with two counts of theft valued between $5,000 and $24,999 and one count of exploitation of the infirmed.

The Sheriff’s Office first arrested Savoie, an independent jewelry appraiser and consultant who owns Savoie Fine Jewelry in Metairie, on April 25 on similar charges…
