Metairie man imported large quantities of illegal muscle relaxer, threw units out window during raid, LSP says

A Metairie man accused of importing and distributing large quantities of a prescription muscle relaxant has been arrested, according to Louisiana State Police.

Authorities say 39-year-old Anthony Bonds was first identified in March after investigators with Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and Louisiana State Police began monitoring suspicious packages of controlled medication being delivered to a home in Metairie. Investigators said Bonds had been importing carisoprodol, a prescription muscle relaxant sold under the brand name Soma and classified as a Schedule IV controlled substance.

Over the course of the investigation, law enforcement agencies say they seized roughly 6,000 dosage units linked to Bonds, including 500-milligram pills that investigators said exceeded typical FDA-approved dosing guidelines…
