Red Line trains delayed after smoke reported at Woodley Park station

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Metro temporarily suspended Red Line services between Cleveland Park and Dupont Circle after smoke was reported on Friday morning.

The morning disruption came after smoke was observed outside the Woodley Park Metro station. On Friday, trains were delayed in both directions as fire crews worked on the scene.

Passengers traveling between Cleveland Park and Dupont Circle were urged to take Metrobuses D70 and D72 as alternatives at the following stops:

  • Connecticut Avenue Southbound: Q Street – stop ID #1001509 Woodley Park, Connecticut Avenue NW and Calvert Street – stop ID #1001890
  • Cleveland Park Service:
    • Northbound: Connecticut Avenue NW, far side of Ordway Street – stop ID #1002210
    • Southbound: Connecticut Ave NW near side of Ordway Street – stop ID #1002221

In an update just after 7 a.m., Metro said train services were restored between Cleveland Park and Dupont Circle. However, trains were single-tracking between Van Ness and Dupont Circle.
