A British tourist captured a chilling moment on video when a ghostly figure appeared behind a statue of St. Francis inside a church.
The traveler, who wishes to remain anonymous, was visiting Split, Croatia, with his wife in May 2026. As enthusiasts of historic religious sites, the couple decided to explore the church and convent of St. Francis.
During their visit, they took photos and recorded videos highlighting the church’s architecture. However, it wasn’t until they returned home to Runcorn that they noticed something unusual in one of their recordings-a faint, mysterious form standing behind the statue of St. Francis.
The footage, shared with news outlet SWNS, shows the tourist panning across the church before focusing on the statue, where the ghostly shape briefly becomes visible. Interestingly, when reviewing the photos taken at the same time, the figure does not appear.
Reflecting on the experience, the tourist said, “I didn’t even realize the figure was in the video. When we got back from our holiday, we put the pictures and video on the TV to reminisce about our holiday.”
He continued, “When I saw the footage of the statue, I was stunned-I couldn’t believe it. I looked at it numerous times and was shocked. It’s in the video, but not in the photos I took on my phone.”
Whether paranormal or simply a trick of the light, the eerie capture has certainly left this couple with an unforgettable memory from their trip.
