First Alert Forecast: Weekend to start stormy for some, drier Sunday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A cold front will continue pressing east tonight, increasing rain and thunderstorm chances area wide.

Now, given the timing and general lack of better instability/lift from the incoming front, severe weather is not anticipated. Even so, between 4 am and 10 am there will be scattered areas of heavy rain, gusty wind, and small hail across Northern Indiana and Northwest Ohio. Not the most ideal pattern for Saturday morning activities!

After 10 am conditions will slowly improve, with areas north and east of Fort Wayne unlikely to see much more storm development – a pop-up shower or two is possible, but the better chance will be SOUTH and WEST of the city as the front drifts through central Indiana. So mid afternoon to evening plans should be a bit easier to plan for if you’re headed outside…
