Coworkers at a veterinary hospital ran toward fire Thursday evening when they saw a car ablaze in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
When employees of Veterinary Surgical Centers saw flames shooting out from underneath a car on Washington Boulevard, hospital director Stephanie Lotenberg called 911 while veterinary nurse Pat Simon and veterinary assistant Rachel Hunt armed themselves with fire extinguishers and charged forward to fight the fire.
“I had never used a fire extinguisher,” Simon said. “Yeah, it was a good move. I had never used one before, and so, when I grabbed my coworker, I said, ‘Rachel, hurry! There’s a fire outside. Grab a fire extinguisher.’”…
