MYRTLE BEACH (WPDE) — As crowds pack into Myrtle Beach during the South Carolina heat this weekend, firefighters are relying on a small piece of technology to help them respond faster to emergencies.
Myrtle Beach Fire Department Capt. Jonathan Evans said a device about the size of a hand helps first responders navigate more efficiently through crowded areas. The bright light is designed to alert people to step aside and help clear a path when time is critical.
“We also have what’s called the Guardian Light. And this is something that we can turn on. It helps kind of flash so that our crews can be seen better going through the crowd when everybody’s got their phones on with their lights or, you know, they’re rocking out or whatever they’re doing. So those devices together really help us find each other in the crowds and so we can better serve our community,”…
