MERIDIAN, Idaho (CBS2) — A neighbor’s quick action helped prevent a small kitchen fire from turning into a major emergency early Saturday in Meridian.
At approximately 2:02 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, Meridian Fire Department crews responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 1300 block of NE 2 1/2 Street. When firefighters arrived, officers with the Meridian Police Department had already assisted the resident from the home after a neighbor noticed the fire and awakened the sleeping homeowner.
Fire crews found light smoke inside the residence and quickly located the source of the fire: a cooking pot on the kitchen stove. The fire was contained to the pot and did not extend into the rest of the home. Crews extinguished the fire and ventilated the home…
