Multiple Stabbed Near Penn Station, One Seriously Hurt as Police Investigate

Six individuals were stabbed near New York City’s Penn Station on Sunday evening, leaving one person in serious condition, officials reported. The incident prompted a swift response from emergency teams and law enforcement.

According to the Fire Department of New York (FDNY), emergency crews arrived at the intersection of West 33rd Street and Seventh Avenue at approximately 7:02 p.m. following reports of multiple stabbings. In total, six civilians were injured: one with serious wounds, two with moderate injuries, and three with minor injuries.

Five of the victims were transported to Bellevue Hospital, including the seriously injured individual and two others with moderate injuries. The sixth victim, who sustained minor injuries, was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center for treatment.

Amtrak Police, who are leading the investigation, confirmed that a suspect has been apprehended. In a statement, Amtrak said, “Earlier this afternoon, Amtrak Police responded to a reported stabbing at New York Penn Station. The suspect has been apprehended and an investigation is underway.”

The New York Police Department has deferred all inquiries to Amtrak Police as the investigation continues. At this time, details regarding the motive or exact circumstances behind the attack remain unclear.

The stabbing occurred during a particularly busy period at Penn Station, with large crowds gathering as the New York Knicks advance in the NBA Finals and visitors arrive ahead of upcoming FIFA World Cup events in the area.
