Longwood police seek new officers as retirements create openings

LONGWOOD, Fla. — The Longwood Police Department is accepting applications for new officers as it works to fill three vacancies created by recent and anticipated retirements, officials said.

The department said the hiring effort is not tied to an increase in crime. Police officials said the city of Longwood continues to grow, and the agency wants to make sure it is prepared for future staffing needs.
