BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY: Your First Alert Weather Team has declared a First Alert Weather Day through 8 p.m. for the risk of flooding. A Flood Watch has been issued for Cullman, Jefferson, Shelby, Blount, St. Clair, Talladega, Etowah, Calhoun, Cleburne, and Cherokee counties. Radar estimates in this zone show 2-4″+ inches of rain fell on Sunday. The latest data suggests additional heavy rain over this area again today, so isolated flash flooding will be possible. Stay weather alert!
THE NEXT 24 HOURS: This morning, a few light showers are showing up on our First Alert Accutrack radar. While they are light, we are anticipating more scattered storms to develop after noon today. Even with rain, storms, and clouds, temperatures will heat into the 80s. Flash flooding remains a concern through this evening.
REMAINDER OF THE WEEK: The risk for rain will turn to more widely scattered Tuesday through Friday. That said, the muggy air is here to stay, so this will have an impact on comfort levels as the heat builds each day. Highs will reach the upper 80s and low 90s, but it will feel more like the mid 90s by Wednesday. Scattered showers and storms remain possible through the weekend.
