Notre Dame commitment looks ready to unravel after forbidden Blacksburg visit

Notre Dame football might be about to lose its second commit in the last few weeks. 4-star linebacker Amarri Irvin took a visit to Virginia Tech this weekend, and that visit followed an OV to Michigan State not long ago. Considering that Irish head coach Marcus Freeman tends to frown on commitments taking any visits at all, it sure seems like Irvin is on his way out.

Irvin’s visit to Blacksburg carries even more of the smell of a player about to decommit, because reports say Irish coaches talked him out of taking another official visit. Irvin had planned to check out Texas A&M, but he eventually agreed to skip the journey to College Station.

However, Irvin getting hosted by James Franklin this weekend is an especially big no-no, at least among Notre Dame fans. The Irish and Franklin have a shaky history after the former Penn State head coach tried to “little bro” Freeman in the lead-up to the two teams’ matchup in the 2024 College Football Playoff.
