Firefighter injured, 8 residents displaced by fire on Syracuse’s South Side

Syracuse, N.Y. — One firefighter was injured and eight people were displaced by an early morning fire Sunday that damaged a two-family home on Syracuse’s South Side, firefighters said.

Syracuse firefighters were called to 801 W. Colvin St. around 5:44 a.m. after the Onondaga County 911 Center received reports of a fire, according to Capt. Erik Caster, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Fire Department.

When fire crews arrived, they found heavy smoke pouring out from the attic of the 2 1/2-story home, Caster said…
