Massachusetts will see a near-perfect summer day on Monday before a sweltering heat wave takes over

Massachusetts is kicking off the week with an essentially perfect summer day on Monday, before conditions warm up significantly and the afternoons bring a threat of thunderstorms.

Temperatures on Monday are expected to land in the 70s, with the warmest conditions expected inland, away from the influence of the ocean, where highs could reach 80 degrees. Areas along the coast are likely to remain in the lower 70s, with a chance for even cooler conditions on Cape Cod, where highs could top out in the upper 60s.

Those temperatures will be coupled with low humidity and plenty of sunshine to set up a “really nice day,” according to National Weather Service forecasters…
