Injuries reported in I-80 crash, traffic shut down overnight

IOWA — A crash with injuries shut down one direction of traffic overnight on I-80 to the west of the Des Moines metro.

The crash happened late Sunday night in the eastbound lanes of I-80 near DeSoto. Sgt. Alex Dinkla with the Iowa State Patrol told WHO 13 the initial crash was between a semi and another vehicle. One person did suffer injuries in the collision. The extent of those injuries was not released.

Sgt. Dinkla said there were a couple of secondary accidents because of the backup caused by the first crash. No injuries were reported in those crashes.
