After minor earthquake in the mountains, Cuba’s quake felt in Florida

(WLOS) — While western North Carolina experienced a very minor earthquake early Monday morning — only a 1.7 magnitude — there was a much stronger quake off the coast of Cuba later that afternoon.

Cuba’s earthquake happened at 2 p.m. and registered a magnitude of 6.1, making it a moderately strong earthquake.

The quake was just over 16 miles below the surface, and there were no reports of injuries or damage. No tsunami occurred.

It was felt as far away as northern Florida, where residents reported light shaking…
