In Arizona, a police officer had an unexpected tumble while assisting in the rescue of a tranquilized bear.
Officers from the Sahuarita Police Department responded to Rancho Sahuarita after reports of a bear climbing high into a tree. Arizona Game and Fish personnel tranquilized the bear to safely bring it down. To catch the animal as it fell, the team held a tarp beneath the tree.
As the bear slowly lost consciousness and began to descend, it landed on the tarp with enough force to knock one officer, identified as Bobby, onto the bear. Fortunately, Bobby quickly recovered and stood up unharmed as the team gave the animal space.
“Are you good?” a colleague asked. “Yep, good,” Bobby replied.
The bear was safely relocated without injury, and the incident was captured on video that has since gone viral on social media. Comments ranged from playful teasing of Bobby’s unexpected fall to humorous observations about the tarp handler’s grip.
One viewer quipped that Bobby might have “lost his s–t” while another blamed a man in a red shirt holding the tarp with one hand for the mishap. The clip has prompted lighthearted jokes about the officer’s dexterity and quick recovery.
Overall, the situation was handled professionally, with no harm to either the bear or the officers involved. The footage offers a rare-and amusing-glimpse into the challenges of wildlife rescue operations.
