Two drivers rescued from floodwaters in Knoxville, fire department says

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – As heavy rain poured down across East Tennessee on Monday, the Knoxville Fire Department helped rescue two drivers from floodwaters.

According to KFD Assistant Chief Mark Wilbanks, crews responded to Fifth Avenue at Hall of Fame Drive at around 5:45 p.m. to rescue a driver who was stranded in the water.

They successfully rescued the driver, Wilbanks said, who did not suffer any injuries and refused medical attention.

Crews then responded to the area of Third Creek Road and Hinton Drive at around 6:15 p.m. to help get a driver out of a pickup truck that was stranded in floodwaters. Wilbanks said no injuries were reported…
