Lead detective fired after judge tosses Spencer homicide case

Lonoke County Sheriff John Staley said he fired Detective Robbie McCain after reviewing the circumstances surrounding an investigation that led a judge to dismiss the criminal case against Aaron Spencer back on June 4.

Staley announced the personnel decision in a statement released June 5 after Special Circuit Judge Ralph Wilson Jr. dismissed the homicide case against Spencer, finding that the loss or destruction of evidence violated Spencer’s constitutional right to due process.
