It’s no secret that one of the allures of the Amazon data center project near Benton to Bossier officials was the five-year-or-so bump to sales tax revenues expected during construction.
Parish Attorney Patrick Jackson literally called it “manna from heaven” in February and stressed the importance of managing it appropriately. And now Bossier City is eyeing its first step toward stowing that money away.
A new ordinance sponsored by Council President Chris Smith and slated to be considered Tuesday would create an “Infrastructure Capital Fund” and designate by law that 0.5% of the city’s sales tax revenues go into it every year and go unspent until construction of the data center is complete…
