PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Community concerns are growing about a BottleDrop redemption center in Portland moving to a new location next month.
Currently, The People’s Depot operates an outdoor bottling redemption center underneath the Morrison Bridge. There is a noticeable lack of space, with no parking available. It’s also open just a couple of hours per day and their customers are often unhoused people collecting cans and bottles to get cash.
Now, the center is scheduled to move indoors next month into an empty building off SE Powell Boulevard. The Oregon Beverage and Recycling Cooperative is owned by beverage distributors and retailers paying the tab, along with large grocery retailers…
