Aiken considers hospitality tax increase that could fund new soccer complex

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – City leaders are considering raising the hospitality tax to fund a list of projects, including a new soccer complex in partnership with the Aiken Futbol Club.

The city is considering doubling the hospitality tax from 1% to 2% on hotels and restaurants. The tax already brings the city $2.5 million a year.

The proposed soccer complex would be built in partnership with the Aiken Futbol Club, where Coach Ike Ofoje runs youth camps. Ofoje coached men’s and women’s soccer at USC Aiken for 28 years after playing for the Nigerian national team…
