USCA graduate with Down syndrome starts career at S.C. therapy center

LEXINGTON, S.C. – Ava Shahbahrami recently graduated from the University of South Carolina Aiken and is starting her career at a pediatric speech and occupational therapy center.

Shahbahrami, who has Down syndrome, began working at Joy in the Journey in Lexington. The practice is owned by Marley Costin, a speech therapist who met Shahbahrami about 10 years ago.
