Nerd Scene: Fair Trade Games

As a gamer, it’s always a welcome opportunity to get the chance to explore classic and modern treasures at gaming stores. It’s also extremely nice knowing there is somewhere to bring in our old or unwanted games so they can find new homes that will appreciate them. That’s exactly what Fair Trade Games offers the community.

Fair Trade Games is a store that buys, sells, and trades video games, gaming accessories, and more. Their original location is in Depew, New York, where they have become beloved. Now, they have expanded and opened up a new location at 2833 Delaware Avenue in Kenmore, just a short walk from the Kenmore-Tonawanda Municipal Building and Spot Coffee. The new location opened at the end of May with a line of people waiting out front welcoming them to the village.

If you happen to have some video games, toys, action figures, or other nerdy goodies in your collection that you are looking to part with, then definitely check out Fair Trade Games when you have the chance. It’s also recommended to stop by if you are looking to add any games or toys to your own collection. Maybe you’ll find something you’ve been searching for or have been wanting to play, or maybe you’ll discover something that piques your interest that you’ve previously been unfamiliar with.

The store offers games, consoles, and accessories for every system and every generation from retro to the latest in the realm of gaming. On their shelves, you’ll also find Skylanders figures, Rock Band drum kits, Guitar Hero guitars, classic copies of Game Informer magazine, retro toys, etc. The folks who run the store are also collectors who know the product, whether it’s an original print or a reprint, and also know what it’s all worth. They use real market data to ensure that you won’t get lowballed on any trade-ins.

Outside of their wide selection of video games and collectibles, the shop conducts repairs and maintenance on controllers, consoles, and cartridges. If you need something fixed up, they can help out. As someone who takes pride in keeping my childhood gaming consoles, it’s nice knowing there is someone so close to home, who can keep them in working order.

It’s genuinely so great to have an indie-owned store like this in the neighborhood. It’s a fun place that celebrates everything that we nerds all love, and it’s a small business that won’t screw over the customer like some big chain store would. Shops like this will always be a welcome part of the community.

This new Kenmore location of Fair Trade Games is currently open from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day of the week…
