Landfill gas-to-energy project generating revenue for Corpus Christi

The city of Corpus Christi, Texas, has literally been turning trash into treasure with its landfill to gas-to-energy project.

Corpus Christi’s director of solid waste, Philip Aldridge, shared how the project worked and how it’s created revenue for the city while also being a sustainable project. He said it takes a while to build up enough garbage to generate gas, but usually within five years, you can generate gas and you have to start capturing it.

“The traditional method is to flare off the gas, which is about 50% methane and 50% carbon dioxide,” he said…
