Gator Defense Claim Backfires: Felon Arrested On Stolen Gun Charges In Frostproof

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Monday afternoon patrol on an agricultural property in Frostproof ended in the arrest of a 52-year-old convicted felon found with a stolen firearm and ammunition.

A Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling the area around 3:30 p.m. on June 8, 2026, when he spotted a suspicious person on private agricultural land. The man, identified as Steven Brent Steedley of Frostproof, was confirmed to be trespassing and was subsequently placed under arrest.

During a search, the deputy discovered six rounds of 9mm ammunition in Steedley’s pocket. Because Steedley is a convicted felon, he is legally prohibited from possessing either firearms or ammunition. Upon the discovery of the bullets, Steedley stated, “I didn’t know those were in there.”…
