MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A jury is deciding the fate of a man accused of killing a 74-year-old disabled veteran in what prosecutors call a revenge killing gone wrong.
Jurors have been deliberating for more than two hours in the murder trial of DeAngelo Merrill, charged with the death of James Jones. Prosecutors say Merrill targeted Jones after someone shot the mother of his child but shot the wrong man.
Merrill faces a murder charge, although jurors can also consider the lesser charge of reckless murder. He is also facing burglary and fleeing arrest.
Defense argues reasonable doubt
