Massachusetts man charged in connection with violent Conn. street takeover

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WWLP) – A Massachusetts man has been charged in connection with a violent Connecticut street takeover last fall.

Massachusetts man arrested in connection to 2025 street takeover event in East Haven

Authorities say 22-year-old Aldo Almonte Vargas of Worcester allegedly played a significant role in organizing and coordinating with those involved in the incident. On November 30, 2025, officers were called to reports of people in cars blocking the area of Foxon Road in East Haven, doing burnouts and igniting fireworks.

Police encountered hundreds of participants and spectators when they arrived. Multiple people surrounded a police cruiser, then damaged and threw objects at it, police said. Individuals also sprayed a fire extinguisher into the cruiser’s engine compartment and windshield area.

Vargas is charged with citing injury to persons or property, inciting to riot and riot in the second degree. He was released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court on June 17.
